I am a Professor of Clinical Psychology and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Illinois. I have a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy and I have over 15 years of professional experience.

I have a wealth of experience working with individuals, couples and families on a variety of concerns (see below for a complete list).

My style is caring, supportive and flexible. I keep up-to-date with and constantly use the latest research and techniques available in my field to help my clients. I am interested in working with culturally diverse clients, bilingual or bicultural people and Asian and Indian clients.

Here are some of the areas I specialize in

  • Anxiety
  • Blended and Step Families
  • Conflict and Divorce
  • Couple and Marital Communication
  • Culture and Diversity
  • Depression
  • Family Therapy
  • Men's Issues
  • Mother-Daughter Relationships
  • Parenting
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Stress and Life Changes
  • Substance Abuse
  • Women's Issues

My second book Multicultural Couple Therapy reports on the application of major evidence-based models of couple therapy and demonstrate the integral role played by contextually based values involved in relationships, conflict, and resolution.
My first book Voices of Color was the first book to address the training, academic, and professional experiences of ethnic minority therapists. Using real cases, narratives, and biographical material, each chapter motivates the reader to ponder and challenge how issues related to mental health intersect with race/ethnicity within a broader diversity framework.
